Who am I?

Hi, I’m Mark Sorenson, creator of Human Arts Photography. I have more than 20 years of experience as an art director, graphic designer, and fine artist, but a lifelong obsession with photography and imaging. That's why I started Human Arts Photography — to bring my decades of experience in image making, and love of story telling, to individuals and brands in the Boulder County region.

I’ve always been compelled by the human condition — what it means to be human and the experiences we go through in our lives. I would be honored to capture those experiences for you, your brand, or your event. Be it formal, casual, clean, or dirty, let's spend some time getting to know each other and exploring how we can capture those honest moments to tell your story.

My time as an art director for commercial and residential architecture and home design magazines taught me a unique set of skills that most other real estate photographers lack. I have a keen eye for composition and a deep understanding of lighting, styling and editing that I can use to showcase your home or business to increase your leads and sales.

My portrait, event, architectural, and product photography sessions take place, on-location and in studio, in the Boulder County region, and other Front Range communities including Louisville, Broomfield, Lafayette, Longmont, Lyons, Erie, Westminster, Thornton, Arvada and Denver. But for the right price, I am happy to travel to any part of the country for an architectural photo shoot. Put me to work for you!

What are people saying?

"Mark is exactly what you’d hope for in a photographer. He puts a tremendous amount of thought and care into his shots and takes creative approaches to each project, whether that’s showcasing street art or arranging an early morning lakeside shoot with perfect light. Happy to work with him again anytime." Trent Knoss - 2020

"I loved working with Mark and highly recommend him - his enthusiasm for photography is definitely evident! I was new to being the subject of a photographer, and he made me feel so comfortable in front of the camera with some needed and clear guidance/ideas on how to pose etc. I love how the photos came out - very professional, natural, and he captured my personality and humor perfectly in the shots! I’ve gotten many compliments on them and am using the photos/headshots in all my social media." Anna Baldwin - 2019

"I had such a great time and had never been so relaxed on a photo shoot before. Mark has a way of making you feel comfortable in front of the camera. And before the shoot itself, he worked with me on finding the right location and styling to really tell the story of my brand. I am in love with the images!" Emily O'Brien - 2019

I am absolutely thrilled with the photos that Mark took of me for my website. It's clear that he is dedicated to delivering a high-quality product and giving the customer exactly what they want. Before we even did our photo shoot, Mark talked to me about what kind of images I needed for the website: vertical, horizontal, shots with space around them so that text could be overlayed, etc. Then, on the day of our shoot, he listened to my suggestions, but was also able to make on-the-fly suggestions about locations that he thought would make beautiful backgrounds. And his eye was spot on! Finally, Mark is so fun to work with. He makes you feel comfortable and natural. My photos feel like me. I highly recommend him!" Jennifer Davis-Flynn - 2018
